The Mercedes W116 series was considered the best saloon car in the world in many countries. An assessment that Mercedes' first special class certainly deserved. Solid and reliable engines and gearboxes, a comfortable chassis, a luxurious interior and, on top of that, a very safe body. The 450 SEL was always a pleasure to drive. Unfortunately, in the 1970s, the quality of the sheet metal was not always optimal and rust prevention was still in its infancy. These factors caused serious problems for many S-Class models in this series. This is where the history of this car comes into play.

This car was purchased in 1977 by a Hamburg entrepreneur with extensive additional equipment, such as air conditioning, heated rear window, electric sunroof, rear headrests and headlight wipers. In 1996, the Mercedes was then transferred to the daughter. It remained in the family for a total of 36 years – only registered in the summer. Then a Mercedes enthusiast bought it, who had to pass it on to a club colleague in 2021 for health reasons.

You can tell that this Mercedes has always been treated with great care. The interior is almost like new and the car has only been driven just under 87,000 kilometres in total.
