Jaguar XJ6 (1973)
In 1968, the XJ6 was the great innovator in Jaguar's luxury sedan range and also a huge success, remaining in production for around 25 years in three series.
Our XJ is a very late example of the first series from 1973. Many of these vehicles were worn out in the 1980s and received too little care due to their moderate increase in value.
This is where the XJ on offer stands out. The car was driven by its owner for many years as an everyday car a good 30 years ago. At the beginning of the 2010s, he began restoring it by refurbishing the body (floor panels, jacking points, inner rear wheel arches, spare wheel well, and sills) and completely repainting it. The bodywork was rounded off with cavity sealing using Mike Sander grease.
The engine was completely dismantled and rebuilt. As an upgrade, the power was increased by a third series cylinder head and larger valves. The original differential was replaced by an LSD (limited slip differential).
The registered tires are 215/65, which are easier and cheaper to obtain today.
The interior has also been renewed.
Since the restoration was completed in 2014, the Jaguar has been driven just under 10,000 kilometers by the owner.
The manual transmission with overdrive was a fairly rare feature at the time (only about 15% of vehicles) and is fully functional.
As an added bonus, the Jaguar has a removable tow bar.
This XJ6 is a collectable car because...
- It has been extensively restored
- It has been driven very little since then
- It has been with one owner for many years
The car is available for a test drive here in Bad Essen or alternatively in Hamburg.
